There are two different upgrades, the Rom and Motherboard. I had the
motherboard replaced on my daughter's //c by an Apple dealer and it
was free, but it took forever and I'm not sure who's fault it was. But
not it works with a 3.5 and I guess also with a high speed modem, but I 
have never tried that.
