The synthLab disk was supposed to contain a version of the executable
(synthLab itself) done with the new (better) linker, but it appears to be
identical to the old version. The new Apple Bowl on the Fonts disk is smaller
than the old one (thus presumably newly linked).

You don't strictly need the /System.Disk either, actually - it can be built
from the other three. It's just a bootable disk for people (like me :/ ) with
no hard drive.
