Ouch!
An I/O error in block 2 (the start of the root directory) is one of the worst
things that can happen to you (and your HD). If this block is phisically
damaged there's no way to write/restore this block (and the partition).
You have to make a low level format in the worst case.
Your first partition could be repaired. It seems that some data has been
written in a directory block. Try to find which directory block is damaged.
Maybe you can repair that block manually by using a block editor.

The easiest way to restore your files would be to use the backup that you
should have made, but I suppose you haven't got a backup.
There are several disk repair programs around including Vitesse's Inpendence,
Glen Bredon's ProSel-16 and Econ's Universe Master.
IMHO, Universe Master and ProSel-16 are superior to Independence because they
are more stable. Independence happens to crash when inspecting clobbered
file systems. I also believe that Universe Master can do diagnostics better than
ProSel-16, but I have only used the demo version of UM, so I can't say
anything about successful repairs with UM. Prosel-16 on the other hand is
pretty good at finding errors and repairs, but can't repair all errors it
finds. Prosel-16 and UM have another big advantage over Independence. They
both have backup/restore capabilities ;-)
