Appleworks 3.0 enhancements

Help!  I have a question with Appleworks 3 enhancements.  I'm trying to
install DoubleData, TotalControl, and UltraMacros on Appleworks 3.0.  I'm
getting a very unstable resulting Appleworks that crashes when I load some
existing Appleworks files that use TotalControl.  Any suggestions?

The following are my steps.

  1) Fresh copy of Appleworks 3.0 3.5" disk.
  2) Apply patcher v1.61 bug fixes.
  3) Install Double Data 2.0  (dd.patch.db = 28-Nov-91)
  4) Install AW Inits v2 (from Total Control 2.0, install.inits=11-Jun-91)
  5) Install Total Control 2.0 (install.tc=4-Dec-91)

This Appleworks seems stable at this point.  I can work with existing files.
But, ...

  6) Install UltraMacros 3.1  (ultra.30=6-Nov-89)

Problems.  aplworks.sys runs OK, as above.  Ultra.system starts appleworks OK
and I can make new files, load some existing files, but will crash when working
with a existing adb file that has total control fields defined.  Usually screen
displays garbage and machine locks up.  oa-cntrl-reset is only option :-)

  7) Install UltraMacro 4.1 (inits v4 and um4)  (install.inits=18-Nov-92)
       (install.ultra=12-Jan-93)

Step 7 has been done following step 5 (ie skipping step 6) and following step
6.  Very unstable.  Will crash anytime after starting, even before loading
any files!

I've tried the above on several different systems to try and eliminate hardware
problems.  The crashes are a little different each time, but the crashes occur
at the same places.  Eg., after loading and viewing a total control file, the
first tab or scroll operation freezes the screen, ususally with garbage chars
(sometimes inverse mousetext).

My test systems:
  1) Apple IIGS Rom01, 4Megs RamGS (Sequential Systems), 2 3.5, 1 5.25 drive
      (inactive), GS/OS 6.0, booted from Appleshare 3.0.

  1a)  same as 1, booted directly into Prodos (8) (v1.7?, v1.9, v2.0.1) on
       Appleworks disk.

  2)  Apple IIe enhanced, 1 Meg Ramworks III, 8Mhz Zip chip, Apple 3.5 Super-
      drive & controller with Unidisk 3.5 as 2nd 3.5 drive, duodisk, Timemaster
      II HO clock, SSC, Apple IIe Workstation card, Booted from Vulcan 40Meg
      drive.

  3)  Apple IIGS Rom03, 4Megs Q-Ram GS (Quality computers), 2-3.5 apple drives,
      1 5.25 Apple drive, Apple HS scsi and 105Meg Quantum HD, system 6.0.

I've performed steps 1-6 on the first 3 systems, steps 1-7 on just the first,
and tried the disks on all the systems.

In what order do I need to install the enhancements?  I'd also like to make
a few mods to AW3 with companion plus.  At what point would I do that?

PS I've also modified Reportwriter and Superfonts with the DBDoubler disks,
but I can't test these yet!

If anyone can pass this message on to Randy Brandt or Dan Verkade I'd 
appreciate it.  Perhaps Quadriga will be out by the time I get this working:-)
