help prodos apple2
RE: Lady in distress
A student up at Yale has an Apple II with enhancements in which she
just had a 120-meg hard disk installed. She was using PRODOS on
her original system and it refuses to talk to the hard disk, so she
can't install the copy of BEAGLEWRITE she wants to use in
organizing her notes into a thesis.
There doesn't seem to be an Apple users group on campus (lot of
Macs, of course, but that's no help) or even individuals who
remember what the Apple II is. Nearest User's Group appears to be
in Hartford, out of reach. (Student time & travel-money problems -
- most of us remember how _that_ goes, don't we?) The PRODOS
manual and the instructions that came with the hard disk are no
help -- she's a microbiologist, not a hacker. (She's sweet, all
the same, dammit.) I've never even seen an Apple II outside a show
window or worked with anything but CP/M and MS/DOS, so I'm no help
to her, darn the luck. She doesn't have a modem, either, so she
can't ask for assistance directly.
Can anybody tell me where she should look for help or suggest a
text still in print which would be a good guidance? You earn 3.99
meg of Good Karma points by doing so.
