Following is a thought/suggestion for the Apple2 Archive concept:
 
After we "do-gooder folks" (let's call ourselves Founders) ante up enough
cash to get this thing set up, why not restrict access to only those who
pay a one time enrollment fee of, for example, $10?
 
(I'm sure ProLine SySops would be willing to advertise this every once in
a while.)
 
Then, use those additional funds to buy shareware programs that the
program authors would license the A2 Archive to give out as freeware to
its subscribers?
 
It could be a good deal for the program authors who, for example, could
collect ten times the shareware asking price in one smack in a sale to the
Apple2 Archive.
 
It could be a good deal for the Apple2 Archive subscribers because it
would open up a new world of shareware they could download and use without
the soul searching thoughts of paying for the shareware.
