'Tis not a rumor. I got the word straight from Richard Harold, the owner.
I am fortunate enough to live about 10 minutes away from Shreve Systems and
visit there about once a week. Seems they got deluged with //e motherboards
when the upgrades were selling like crazy. Add those to the thousands they
already had and you can see why the change in policy was necessary. Why their
ads still say $150 + trade-in, I don't know. Perhaps an oversight or maybe
their ads run for several months before being changed. Upgrades are now $250
straight out - no motherboard exchange. They still had plenty in stock the
last time I checked (2-3 weeks ago).
