Hi Steve, I have the same type of ZIP8000. I too would like to see the
guts. Maybe an some x-ray's would be a good idea?
Are you setup for that? Hmmm. My dentist is a real gearhead and I have an
appointment Thursday. Maybe I'll drag along the Zip and see if he wouldn't
mind shooting a picture of it. That's supposing that a dental X-Ray is
capable of this sort of imaging.
My system functions but I see no increase in speed. All my pins are
intact but some look like they could break by looking at them too hard.
I _think_ the Zip may default to nothing accelerated. It's been a while since
I've mucked with it, but yesterday it seemed like things didn't get faster
until I ran the little setup file on the utility diskette.
Mine came in a used IIc I bought, not sure if there enough space for a
ZIF with the IIc memory card on top. It's also got a DS no slot clock
stuffed under the hood as well.
Nice gift to find in a second-hand computer.
I was able to update my Jameco order and have some Aries low-profile sockets
on the way - along with a couple of 55nsec. SRAMs. Maybe I'll frame the other
ones. $40 down the drain...
