So I got my netboot65 code to the point where there is a TFTP server
which can be queried for a list of files, and the file selected can be
d/loaded and executed.
To celebrate, I snarfed the games from the a2gameserver distro and
played a bunch of them via netboot65.
There is a zip file containing a dsk with the DHCP & TFTP client code,
plus a pure ruby TFTP server, available for download at
https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=250168
NB - there are no games included in this archive - you'll need to
supply your own. There are however instructions for how to import the
a2gameserver games, and how to use dsktool.rb to extract other single-
load apps in the appropriate format.
This is still really just a proof of concept, put out there in the off-
chance someone might want to hack on it a bit. It has the following
limitations:
- Uthernet must be in slot 3
- Only single-load programs supported
- Only BRUNable files supported (i.e. not Applesoft or Integer BASIC)
- No more than 128 programs will be displayed in the menu
- no HGR font, starfield or plinkity plonkety "music"
Cheers,
Jonno
