Ok, the superdrive idea is starting to seem less cool due to the need
to obtain the card.

I looked into ADT Pro and it's starting to look pretty good. If you
can find the cabling to get from your the IIGS modem out to a USB
port, you can link a IIGS to a Mac this way then use the ADT software
to swap the files.

This chap below sells both the cables you'd need (IIGS modem / null
modem to RS232, RS232 to USB)

As the software is free, the total cost of this would be about $32.

I think this is the road I'm going to try.
