Hate to correct you, but a cascode amp consists of TWO transistors. (Or vacuum tubes, back when it was invented :)) It helps fight the Miller effect making it easier to get high bandwidth.Way off-topic, but the DUAL GATE FETs could be viewed as a single transistor cascode amp.
