Re: Creating Apple /// boot disks using MacADT

Hey guys... I'm having difficulties.

I'm trying to create some Apple /// boot disks using MacADT. I have an SE/30 running MacADT, connected to an Apple //c. I format the disk using the //c with the "INIT HELLO" command. I am able to successfuly copy //-series software .dsk files from the SE/30 to the //c using MacADT to ADT transfer.

So I downloaded the Apple3SystemUtils.dsk file and other system disk files for the Apple ///. I transferred them in the same way to 5.25" floppies using MacADT to ADT (SE/30 to //c). However when I put these disks in the Apple ///, it won't boot. It just gives the error, "I/O Error" in the center of the screen (no other info). When there's no disk in the drive, it just says RETRY ;

I have exactly the same behaviour, altough I did'nt use the same way. I'm using DSK2F58 to recreate disk on my IIgs, and it's not working. With none of the disk image I found on Internet, except ONE, wich work.

I buy a set of original Apple /// disk on ebay, made Disk image of them, and was able to write them back to disk, using DSK2F58.

So, most if not all Apple /// disk image that can be found around seems to be corrupted.

I'm guessing it's a ProDOS-order, DOS order problem (which isn't hard
to fix).

CiderPress makes it easy on a PC--I'm sure there are programs that
swap sector order available for all platforms.

Another possibility is a missing SOS boot block (block 1), as
discussed earlier.
