 Well they are equal in many ways, good and bad. For instance, they
BOTH SUCK when it came to the mistake that IBM fixed (putting the cPU
underneath the keyboard), BUT I like the Commodore better than the
Apple for 3 main reasons:

 #1) The color scheme was great in comparison to a black and white
screen!

#2)  That annoying "BEEP" as opposed to the Commodore SID chip
(probably the best part of the Cmmodore machines which made it very
difficult for the others to compete against for so long).

 and finally


 #3)  The availability of soft/hardware for the machines.

 When I went shopping for my Apple II, I had to contact this guy over
in Pennslyvania, wheras you can still find someplace in almost every
state still that sells something for the Commodores. :):):)
