I'll make a short one.
I did one week of LOGO programming on an Apple II+ as part of a school
"project week" in 7th grade, which would be 1986. At that time regular
computer classes were only available for grades 11 through 13 at my
(German) school. I thought the Apples with their funny green screens
simply sucked compared to my shiny new C64. Also it seemed like nobody
had them in Germany except for schools, so you couldn't have shared any
pirated games.
In the late 1990s I was a fan of the Ultima series and wanted to try the
older parts on the platform on which they were originally written. Which
was the Apple II. So I got an old II+ clone. The rest is history.
(Apple color graphics do in fact suck on a PAL screen IMHO, which
together with the price might explain why they were so unpopular over
here. The picture is always shaky and unstable. With today's multisystem
TVs, I converted all my Apples to NTSC.)
