I do know that four pushbutton inputs can be used (AN0, AN1, AN2, and
AN3). Primary joystick uses AN0 and AN1 and secondary joystick uses AN2 and
AN3. Four pushbutton inputs on both joysticks can be used at the same time
when two players play the game on one Apple II machine at the same time. It
is ideal for Apple II+.
The problem is with Apple //e. AN3 is implemented to use Double HiRes.
You can still use four pushbuttons as longer as you use HiRes in 40 column
only, but three pushbuttons are limited when AN3 with Double HiRes is turned
on. It is annoying to push button on the joystick to turn on/off Double
HiRes.
