Re: Change Finder background color
Hi,
Basically what I intend to do is very simple - to make Apple IIGS as
kind of a Virtual Machine (like Java?) so that it can be run from any
platform and even beginners can use it for fun immediately.
Since my motive is simple - teach kids programming since there aren't
much things like this on PC or Mac anymore - basically we will need 4
things:
- Emulator (together with ROM)
- System Disk (operating system)
- Development Environment
- Sample Codes (and even sample programs)
Can't do anything about 1st one except for recommendation, but we can
do something about 2, 3, 4th. My initial plan is to build up a super
development disk image which contains everything, so this is what any
kids need - a file that just drop into the emulator and get started.
But if System Disk is not available, we can at least do the last 2
things. Complete Pascal is abandon software. GSoft BASIC free version
is available for distribution as long as it is not for commercial
purpose (it is in the readme file) and does not change its content.
Sample codes are the hardest, as one of the problems faces beginners
are the lack of sample codes, especially those targeted beginners.
This is what Virtual GS site is all about - a lot of sample codes to
teach beginners on topics the kids like.
So removing System Disk just mean there are more works for the users,
but it is still OK. I really does not want to get into any legal
issues. So currently I am creating a disk which contains development
environment and sample codes, and it has been uploaded to http://virtualgs.larwe.com
