I don't think so -- both Europe and the US had 3:4 as the aspect ratio
for teleivision.  If your monitor should present an image with a weird
aspect ratio, it's just a matter of adjusting the height of the image
to get it right.


But the PAL apple still just uses 192 vertical lines, and that's
an even smaller fraction of the 312-line PAL field than of the
252-line NTSC field.  It will take 25% vertical overscan to
compensate for the compression.
