Re: Green Apple Small Carbon
To figure out how long my data collection Apple II would run on its
UPS, I put a Kill-a-watt meter on it. It pulls 24 VA (not counting the
monitor). My Mac mini (dual core 1.66 GHz) pulls 28 VA if the optical
drive is not running. So you're not necessarily as much greener as you
may think.
But if you comparing to a Mac Pro, at 500 to 600 watts (600-700 VA?)
then you are looking pretty good, unless you were to actually try to
encode H.264 video on the A2.
The Mac Pro's power supply is rated to pull 12 amps. I'd have to run a
new circuit for it. Or wire it to the clothes dryer circuit, as it has
a dual voltage power supply. Either way It's off the list for me.
