That's a question with a complicated answer. You'd have to read the
(rather fascinating) Wikipedia entry to find out the full story, but
suffice to say they faced the PC and lost - like Apple. ;-) Of course,
"lost" has many meanings:

It's interesting to note that their OS, RISC OS is still under active
development and being sold today, and that their ARM CPU lineage is
about to celebrate its 22nd birthday. I'm very satisfied to have
worked with these first class technologies.

But I still love the Apple II. ;-)
