They had only just introduced the automatic daylight saving in System 6,
if I remember right. If development had continued I expect they would
have eventually added support for other countries.
I don't remember when the Mac got automatic daylight saving, but I seem
to recall it appearing some time after I got my first Mac (1996, around
System 7.5.3).
