They should not be. An uncompressed disk image should be 143360 bytes
exactly. The .dsk images you get from Asimov should be just that size.

I think the point is that the image of a disk can not fit on a disk, i.e.
you can't transfer a ".dsk" image as a file and then unpack it.

ShrinkIt can help with this -- convert the disk images to .sdk with NuLib2
or CiderPress and then transfer them.

Of course, if the transfer is happening through a serial cable, you're
better off just using ADT since it avoids extra steps and works well with
just one drive. (I use an AppleTalk network, so I move the images around
in .sdk form and then use Shrinkit to unpack them.)

That was similar to the approach I used prior to CiderPress: PC to
1.44MB 3.5" FAT disk, Mac to move files to 800K ProDOS 3.5" disk, then
UNFORKIT and ShrinkIt on a //e to unshrink images to 5.25" disks.

Needless to say, CiderPress with a Superdisk controller is much easier:
PC & CiderPress to 3.5" 1.44MB ProDOS disk, straight to //e with
Superdisk controller. If I have lots of files to move, I carry my CF
card over to the PC (take the opportunity to create a full backup using
CiderPress ;-) and then use CiderPress to copy over the files I need.
