We can make this reminiscing about heavy printers a bit more accurate,
since a quick search on Apple's web site found the weights for various
printers.
I couldn't find any specifications for Apple's first printer, the
SilenType.
Daisy Wheel Printer 16.8 kg
Dot Matrix Printer 8.5 kg
Scribe 6.4 kg
ImageWriter 8.6 kg
ImageWriter 15" 12.0 kg
ImageWriter II 11.3 kg
ImageWriter II/L 6.7 kg
ImageWriter LQ 17.0 kg
The ImageWriter II/L was the service name for the updated IW II released
in early 1990. The IW LQ was the heaviest impact printer from Apple, and
over twice as heavy as the revised IW II.
