I've "hot plugged" cards a few times too, by mistake, on my own Apple II.
Every time the Apple II froze, but after poweroff+poweron it worked OK
again.

Does anyone have some real statistics, or other info, about how often
"hot plugging" Apple II peripheral cards actually damaged the hardware?
