GS/OS is more resource intensive than ProDOS. There are more interupts
happening and therefore way more opportunity for a character not to be
read from the serial port.

File transfers use a checksum at frequent intervals to determine if
something was not received correctly. If it wasnt, the data gets
resent.

Each application (Marinetti / ProTERM / etc) has a different way of
servicing the serial port. So you can't expect the same performance
from all of them.

Once you get your script working, you can ramp it up to the fastest
speed that your system can support. You need to eliminate lost bytes as
a problem.

Are you using an accelerator? what speed?
Do you have lots of Inits/DAs etc in your system? try turning them all
off (e.g. use Skip'Em for help with this)

3.0b1 is as production stable as 2.0.1.
It has a few known issues (that are also in 2.0.1 BTW).

As I mentioned before, 3.0b1 will probably not have an impact on your
ability to connect to your linux box with SLIP or PPP. It may allow you
to run applications that need features (or bug fixes) in 3.0b1. You
should be able to get 2.0.1 working.

No. Helpful yes, but not practical to provide to a wide audience.
