Pine IS primarily a news-reader, though news acccess can be set up if
the administrator allows for it.  I used Tin originally back in my
school days when I had a free Unix shell account to play around with.
Eventually, I figured out Pine worked too so I started using that
instead.

These days, I primarily either use my DSL provider's news server or
Google.  Lately, I've been lazy and using Google.

I do miss the days of using Pine.  Point and click to read email/news
is such a pain.  I prefer the days of keyboard navigation.  :)
