Re: Laptop //c

FWIW Apple II emulation on a 68K Mac is s-l-o-o-o-w to say the least.
Catakig is a great emulator, but it really needs a PPC to be practical.

I've also been hoping for a (cheap) portable A2 solution, but my old
PowerBook just doesn't cut it, and hacking a real A2 into a portable
state is pretty ambitious. The best I've come up with is lugging around
a IIc+ and hoping there's a TV wherever I end up using it. I've found
that most TVs are capable of passable 80-column if you turn the colour
right down and fiddle with brightness and contrast a bit.

I have a cheap 7" LCD that I picked up on eBay for this purpose, but
it's practically useless for 80-column and even 40-column has some
problems with crawling pixels, which, as I've gleaned from many of
Michael Mahon's posts is pretty much what you get no matter what.

If you're pretty serious about portability, I'd suggest looking for an
older PPC Powerbook... ideally a 3400, which has a CD drive as well as
a "SuperDrive", so you can use it to transfer files to Prodos floppies.
Bernie ][ The Resue will run on this machine (I think) and that's by
far the best emulator for MacOS.
