It occurred to me that I should probably make my collection of extracted
tape data available. Internet distribution is an excellent way of
backing up data. :-)

The images can be downloaded from http://www.faddensoftware.com/. I
updated the README on the first image to include serial number info for
the Apple Computer cassettes. (The first Breakout / Color Demo tape,
oddly enough, has no part number, serial number, or really anything else
except the Apple logo and the name of the program. It does appear to be
an earlier version of the Breakout / Color Graphics tape, which is also
included.)

Note that, while I was able to extract the Applesoft II image, the floating
point demo on the other side was not recoverable.

Cassette Programs #1 README
11-Dec-2004

All programs on this disk are exactly as they were extracted from original,
commercially produced cassette tapes. The tapes were captured through a PC
microphone jack as 22.05KHz 8-bit WAV files and then converted to Apple II
format with CiderPress.

The 800K disk includes five embedded 140K disk images. If your emulator
does not support 800K disks, you can extract the individual 140K volumes
with CiderPress, or copy files around with the "FUD" program included on
the first volume.

In cases where the program is difficult to run due to copy protection or
other fancy tricks (notably Sargon II and Microchess 2.0), a launcher has
been provided.

Datestones of Ryn has been left in its original format. The tape had
versions for systems with 48K in ROM and for Applesoft in RAM; only the
former is provided, because the RAM version was not readable. The
included instructions for conversion to disk are:

 (1) RUN the first program, which loads some binary data, then loads the
     second BASIC program.
 (2) BSAVE DAT,A$1162,L$E9E (this is the data file)
 (3) SAVE DATESTONES (this is currently "part B")
 (4) Reload the first program.
 (5) Delete lines 10, 20, 30, and 40.
 (6) Remove the REMs from 110, 120, 130, and 140. Take out the spurious
     "84,0" in line 140.
 (7) SAVE STARTER (this is currently "part A")

Now just "RUN STARTER" to run the game.

Starfleet Orion comes in different versions for 16K and 32K systems. The
16K version could not be recovered.
