That's not a bad idea. I have a real battery on the way (with long leads), so I'm going to try the 'springy leads' approach. Failing that I'll take a stab at soldering it in. Failing that I'm going to go with the 2 AA approach. Next time this battery goes dead, it's the 2 AA's all the way though. :)
