Re: apple 2e LC card - prodos hd partitons

Hi!

Install Silverlining on the LC III. On the LC III, use SyQuest
Utilities to prepare a 44 MB cartridge with one partition. On a real
IIe with a SCSI card, use a hex editor to change the string 'Apple_HFS'
to 'Apple_PRODOS' in one of the partition map blocks. It'll be one of
the first 8 blocks. Then you can use Chinook SCSI Utilities (CSU) to
change what was the HFS partition into two or more ProDOS partitions.
CSU is available on Bill Garber's site.

You can use CSU to partition carts without any prior preparation
but Silverlining will insist that the first partition is password
protected. I'm trying to figure out why Silverlining thinks the first
ProDOS partition is password protected when there are no driver
partitions on the cart. Maybe a temporary solution is to use CSU to
create a tiny additional first partition.

If all else fails, I can send you a cart that works on my LC III.
