i'll try to explain it again
the card goes into slot 7 like a standard card componets on the right
the componets such as they are are two more slots one on top of the other
going horizontal (back of case in a line to front of case) one on top of the
other
so you have two horizontal apple ii bus slots mounted on the right side of
the card...going the long way (horizontal) one on top of the other front to
back of the card (i think there was a dip switch with 4 settings)
|
==
| <= (these two slots tuck under back R of //e)
==
|
!! <==== (standard slot #7 on //e)
the cards if i remember right are put into this proslot card sideways with
componet side facing DOWN towards motherboard and tuck under the space
between slot #7 and the back Right Lip of the //e...it is large enough two
hold 1 card (special dapple card for that dapple //e scientific setup i have
..the size of a standard floppy controller 5.25" card...and a standard apple
//e mouse card which is longer and prob the size of a standard //e mem card
with the slant / on the front...i think if i remember correct that 2 longer
//e cards like this //e mouse card would both work in this there is enough
room under there and they project forward in the case)
the reason it is in slot 7 is so that you can fill up your other slots...and
not have this project over 2 or three spots with cards inside
anyway that is prob clear as mud...
a guy COULD i suppose...make a card like this plug it into slot 7
have a ribbon cable to the side of the back right back of a //e case...cut a
port or connector of sometype to the outside of the case (hang it ..like
they do a system saver off the vent openings on the side of the apple //e
maybe..or expansion stuff on a laser tyep expansion box) and then have 4 or
5 switchable (ie like mt. computer chassis) box ..hanging off that end of
the //e like a morphed system saver..(maybe use a system saver.as a same
design philosophy...but more rectangular and boxey..light so it would hang
from vent from hooks like the system saver...switches in front..lighted
switches...heck have a fan at the side like a system saver...box like...flip
the top to take in/out cards...make this addon look like a mini-//e with
same kinda lid pop up as //e...go for the russian design look..... make it
all out of sheet metal...be thrifty ....use an old toaster..anyway you get
my drift..)
the more i look at this stuff the more i feel i need to go find a newsgroup
like (comp.sys.moldedplasticdesigntheme).....the //e
to gs upgrade bottom plate...clear plastic block eprom mousetext deally, add
on boxes...jeez...anyone with a CAD robotic machine at work they wanna pop
out a prototype of some of this stuff..i mean if they can cut out aluminum
wheels on monster garage...take a hunk of plastic...and do the same with our
dumb endeavors)
(or then again one could go for the traditional wood box look popularized by
the apple 1......balsa wood and elmers wood glue is more my speed anyway...)
i've slipped into fantasy land..anyway...hopefully that gives you a better
idea of the lenghts this card goes to add just (1) extra slot on an apple
//e bus...prob why proslot is rare..but then again..there are a lot more
loaded up apple hobby nuts out there with loaded machines....might be a
simple enough project to actually move a few
my 2c worth
