I'm not sure, I haven't seen one in person, I only saw the ads for it. Given
the space to the right of slot 7, it could have gone either way. In the
scheme of things, I'd rather see a vertical implementation (as long as
everything fits) because a horizontal riser would likely require strain
relief not just on slot 7, but on the cards in the adapter. With a vertical
adapter, all we'll need are some rubber bumpers or peg legs to keep strain
off of slot 7.

I guess it will depend on how high the cards would be once they're in the
riser, and if they make contact with the lid. We'll have to factor in that
the lid usually supports some weight, etc.

Hope the weak ascii rendition comes out ok - the hashes being slots, the
colons being an edge connector and the plus sign being a support peg or
bumper.

As far as I'm concerned, this doesn't have to be too fancy. My primary
desire was to save wear and tear on my slot and avoid handling my cards all
the time. I'm content with turning off the computer, flipping a switch to
select which slot I want to use and booting back up.

If Bill and Michael manage to hatch something more intelligent, I'm ok with
that - as long as it works, and doesn't scramble my data or blow up my //e.
