: I'm not sure, I haven't seen one in person, I only saw the ads for it.
Given
: the space to the right of slot 7, it could have gone either way. In the
: scheme of things, I'd rather see a vertical implementation (as long as
: everything fits) because a horizontal riser would likely require strain
: relief not just on slot 7, but on the cards in the adapter. With a
vertical
: adapter, all we'll need are some rubber bumpers or peg legs to keep strain
: off of slot 7.
:
: I guess it will depend on how high the cards would be once they're in the
: riser, and if they make contact with the lid. We'll have to factor in that
: the lid usually supports some weight, etc.

: Hope the weak ascii rendition comes out ok - the hashes being slots, the
: colons being an edge connector and the plus sign being a support peg or
: bumper.
:
: As far as I'm concerned, this doesn't have to be too fancy. My primary
: desire was to save wear and tear on my slot and avoid handling my cards
all
: the time. I'm content with turning off the computer, flipping a switch to
: select which slot I want to use and booting back up.

I think I am going with the switchable model. Also, horizontally
mounted cards will allow for more than 2 cards in one slot. Even
still, a cabled version going to an external location (box),
will allow even more cards in a slot. Imagine being able to have
say 4 cards (switchable) in each of 2-3 slots. Howard, are you
reading this. :o)

: If Bill and Michael manage to hatch something more intelligent, I'm ok
with
: that - as long as it works, and doesn't scramble my data or blow up my
//e.

This sounds very complex and eats into cash flow very quickly,
causing price to go up as well. I'll get you some preliminary
costs once I have all the parts selected.
