Re: file transfer: Mac PowerBook <-> IIc+
You need to put the one modem in initiate mode and the other in answer
mode within a few seconds so they handshke and negotiate a connection.
On computer, get to the communications terminal in both programs. Type
ATX3D(Enter) on one and ATA(enter) on the other within a few seconds.
The AT is a modem intercepted attention command to tell it more commands
follow, the X3 tells the modem not to look for a dial tone when dialing,
and D tells the modem to dial or initiate a connection. The A tells it
to immediately pick up the line and initiate in answer protocall. (Squeal)
When the modems get done chattering, you will have a connection
established. Use the terminal programs to transfer your files.
Thanxk,
Ed
Note: It is possible to have a modem immediately dial/answer when you
turn it on, (short haul mode) but I'll leave you to look up those commands.
