Paul, I hear what you're saying but that doesn't alter the reality that the
sites have bills to pay - broadband, hardware, electricity, etc... to
achieve the level of independence, customization, and offer the variety of
services without resorting to "sell your soul" advertising all over the
place or subjecting the users to the whims of some corporation cost-cutting
services out from under their subscribers has value to me, and worth
supporting IMHO.

Still, there are other options - CSA2, Applefritter, LEM, Call-Apple...
