Michael,
Thank you very much for the information. I appreciate your help. I
have seen this before and I continue reviewing. Please be aware that I
already have "Understanding Apple II+" and "Understanding Apple //e" manuals
in front of me. It is what I am using them everyday. Sometimes, Jim Sather
did not explain clear in technical issue so I have to re-read more than 10
times to make sure that I understand completely and figure out what it does
not make sense to me.
I definitely recommend re-reading Sather and reading the schematics
until it all makes sense. You might need some higher-level context
(how the switches are used) and some lower-level context (TTL logic)
to get it all to fit together, but he has the complete picture.
There is a standard problem with system description: some parts
don't make sense until other parts are understood, so it is often
necessary to re-read until it all comes together.
I remember a book that tried to address this problem directly some
years ago. It recommended two different orders for reading the
chapters, so that, after two readings, most things would start to
make sense. ;-)
Jim's explanation of "16K card" behavior is in the IIe book, since
the IIe memory architecture emulates (multiple) 16K cards.
