The music scene was very lacking, but the gs still has a very capable sound
architecture. It was also designed by Bob Yannes, IIRC (he did the SID
originally).
And even though the C64 does lack slots, stereo SIDs were a very popular
cartridge option. An internal modification to do the same is also easily
accomplished. This gives six voices over both left/right channels.
