Personally I would keep this unit as it is (or sell it to a collector) and
just buy another IIe.  Unenhanced Apple IIe's are far rarer than the
enhanced versions especially if this is a rev. 'A' motherboard.  On eBay
I've seen enhanced IIe go for as low as $5.
