Opinion:
If you are working on a 5.25-floppy based ][e or IIc, ProDOS is more of a
hassle than it is worth; use DOS 3.3 or one of its variants.

Once you start working with larger volumes, then ProDOS becomes somewhat
useful.

Admittedly, this is something of a minority opinion.  I obstinately
refused to switch to ProDOS until I bought my first IIgs...
