It's held down to the baseplate with four small screws - not part of the
6 along the bottom edges, or the three across the keyboard end - Those
just hold the plastic case onto the baseplate. The ones you're looking
for are pretty close to 1.625 inches and 4.5 inches in from the left
(when viewed from "right side up") edge of the baseplate, and
approximately 9.5 and 1.75 inches from the rearmost projection of the
base plate.
When in place where it needs to be, the left (again, seen from the top)
edge of the power supply will be very close to 1.375 inches from the
left edge of the baseplate, with the rear/switch area just barely
touching the back "wall".
I've tried to make it as clear as possible (I used to be eyes for a
blind man who had a serious "tech-fetish" - You think dealing with your
Apple II is fun? Try coping with reassembling a DEC PDP-11! <heheheh>)
but I'm betting that even with my info, you're going to need to dig up a
sighted person to assist in re-aligning the PS with its screwholes to
get it pinned back down. It's not that difficult, but it does pretty
much require vision (or excellent luck) to get it positioned properly,
since there are very few reference points to work from, and you're
looking for some pretty tiny screwholes in the middle of a realatively
major expanse of baseplate.
Running it the way you are is an issue that's purely cosmetic - The
power supply box is effectively a sealed unit, with no "stray" voltages
accessible, or openings that anybody/anything could get an appendage
through to get zapped. Pouring a two-liter of soda over it while it's
powered up probably wouldn't be the best idea in the world, but even
that should present pretty close to zero risk due to the way the box is
formed.
