Re: Appleshare 3
Simon Bless YOU!!!
That is Exactly the disk set I needed!
As for the Apple II setup disk I have a "split to 2" 144k disks set of the
needed files already and, the actual GS and ProDOS loads can be had from the
GS/OS 6.0.1 set once you have a standard APpleshare connection is setup
(which can be done from Mac OS 7.5.3 standard appleshare. All you do is
attach to the Mac disk on the GS then drag Basic.System and the P8 file from
System to it, renaming the later to PRODOS. Oh and also drag your whole
System folder over. and that do take all day....
I know this one becasue MY set had a bung Apple II setup disk! . Perhaps
our sets came from a similar source? :)
Oh and another thing: My set had a varriant infection of the Mac antique
virus "nVIR" (rememebwr that beasty? ) which was annoying but manageable.
You just ran a virus check (Norton) after the install and that cleared it.
Appleshare 3.0 must have been custom made to make a Mac a worthwhile
peripheral for your killer Apple II setup ;)
Appleshare 2.0 (the dedicated SE becomes a "server only" under Mac OS 6
version is also useful but far more limited then the 3.0 set but it should
be preserved too.
In any case THANK YOU!!! for preserving these. This set is TOO important to
us A2 nuts to get lost in the digital backwaters.
