I'd like to know more about the "no-slot clock" that I've heard
mentioned a few times now. What's it all about?
They're Dallas Semiconductor Smartwatch chips. Dallas Semiconductor
still make them as they are still used in a few places. The Smartwatch
chip is a sealed unit that contains the clock and a battery. They
plug into a 28 pin EPROM socket and the EPROM plugs into it. The
EPROM can be on the Apple IIs motherboard or on a card. ProDOS has to
be patched to see it.
Mark Percival did a group buy on them last fall.
