I was just wondering the lifetime on the batteries in IIgs's. I've got a ROM 03 with a battery that is still good after all these years. I have a ROM 01 that is NOT good.
#1. Is there a way to tell when your motherboard was manufactured?

#2. Is there a way to find out the age of any components?

Battery life varies at least partly by how much the IIgs is used. The
battery powers the clock and a bit of RAM for the control panel
sttings. When the IIgs is turned on the power supply powers those.

#1 Just to the rear of the memory expansion slot on the IIgs
motherboards you'll find the date stamped

#2 If you mean the age of the chip, most chips have the date stamped on
them too. Usually the year and week 8824 = 24th week of 1988
