Hi John,

can report success with the 3xAAA betteries hooked up in a 2 battery 
holder placed in series with a 1 battery holder, then attached to the 
original battery's plug. Total cost under AU$5, about 10-15 minutes to 
solder/setup. Now when the batteries go flat it'll be about 2 minutes 
work and AU$3 for the batteries. Much better than the AU$35-40 being 
quoted currently for the cubic Rayovac batteries out here (when they're 
available).
