: : Thanks for replying, Bill. Here's a list of the steps I take
to
: transfer
: : data to / from the Laser.
: :
: : -Format the disk: New, Init Hello, it erases everything.
: :
: : -Open Tera Term Pro (a generic terminal program). It's using
: COM 2 at 300
: : baud. I needed to insert a 50 msec delay between lines in
order
: for the
: : program to successfully transmit to the Laser. Put in a 10
msec
: delay
: : between characters just to be safe.
: :
: : -IN#2, then ctrl+a, then 6b to set the Laser's slot 2
(labelled
: "modem" -
: : it's the port where I plug in the null modem cable. Used to
run
: an old
: : external dial-up modem off of it way back in the day) to 300
: baud.
: :
: : -send ADTSSCFG.BAS using TTPro
: :
: : -send ADT_SS.DMP using TTPro
: :
: : Both programs were sent successfully as far as I can tell -
the
: data
: : streamed across the screen on the Apple II and they saved
: themselves on the
: : disk.
: :
: : -Reboot Laser. BRUN ADT.SS. This brings up the ADT.SS
program,
: shows me a
: : screen at the top that says SSC:S2, 300 (I set it for slot 2,
: 300 baud,
: : since that is what I used to transfer the program to the
Laser
: in the first
: : place). Then says ADT 1.21, DISK: S6,D1 (slot 6, drive 1 -
: should be fine).
: : If any of those are off, I go into Configure and change them.
: So far so
: : good.
: :
: : -Start ADT.EXE in WinXP, which lets me set the com port, the
: speed, and
: : connect / disconnect - but nothing else. I set it for COM 2,
: 300 baud, which
: : is exactly what worked when I transferred the ADT files in
the
: first place.
:
: Good up to here, except that 300 baud will take ferever.
: Try running it at 9600.
:
: : Then I try to send or receive an image file, and it just
hangs.
:
: First of all, everything is automatic. When you get a dir
: on the Laser with ADT it should poll the PC automatically,
: and show you a directory on the Laser. Does it do that?
: Also, it is recommended that images come from and go to
: the same directory on the PC that ADT is run from. I think
: I mentioned that before.
:
: : I do not have any dip switch banks like the SSC has to set
the
: port to
:
: [ blah blah blah ]
:
: : Are there any other programs to try?
:
: Ok, now I need you to set up terminal software
: on noth machines and try to send a text (ascii)
: file to the PC from the Laser. If it doesn't then
: we need to look at your settings on the PC. Could
: be your serial ports are not compat. What is your
: PC's configuration? What I mean is, what CPU, and
: speed? If you like we can take this private. Email
: in header is not munged, just here in the posts.
Also for sending coded ML like ADT.SS, the manual
says to use PR#2 <CR> then CTRL-A nnB to set baud
where: nn=14 for 9600. Then for 8 data and 1 stop
bit use CTRL-A nD where n=0. For Parity, CTRL-I nP
where n=0. I assume then that you need to break
back into Basic prompt and type IN#2 to receive.
Now, when you use a terminal program, you would set
them within the program's configuration. Try that
ASCII send from Laser to PC and let me know.
