Re: Accessing MS-DOS disk from GS/OS

I am trying to access an MS-DOS formatted disk from GS/OS

I have MUG! installed on GS. System 6.0.1, formatted the
zip disk from Windows 98, format e: command.

When I insert the disk in the GS it says "unrecognized
format, eject/initialize?". I have MSDOS FST installed on the system. It has plenty of RAM.

The ZIP drive is connected to apple SCSI card in slot1,
control panel set to SLOT1 YOUR CARD. The zip drive
correctly reads PRODOS formatted zip disks, no problem.

When I try "initialize" command from the message (above),
computer bombs into monitor. tried booting from known
good System 6 3.5 disk, does same think upon clicking
initialize button.

I want to transfer all of my GS stuff to PC to work in
an emulator, several megabytes of stuff.
Any suggestions?

I've tried using Conversions Plus by Dataviz, http://www.dataviz.com/products/conversionsplus/index.html, to transfer files between the IIgs and the IBM. Conversions plus allows you to format a zip drive using MAC HFS file system. Putting the HFS FST on the IIgs allows you to read and copy to the zip drive.
