This is a possibility also, but I was addressing his cable issue.
I looked over his wiring and noticed that there may be a flaw
in that. I prefer Telix for communicating with the Apple IIs,
being a DOS program Windows settings don't interfere and
it is also much easier to setup and use than HyperTerminal.
Also, Telix can be run in a window and you can do transfers
in the background while performing other operations in the
Windows environment without it interfering with the transfer.
