True, I never even thought of this.  I also never thought of smacking
the case while the GS is running to see if I could invoke a crash (I
guess because it's not a TV :-) ).  It may very well be an intermittent
solder connection, which would explain the intermittency.  I would not
be surprised if this is causing the issue, especially after how many
times I've swapped the TWGS in and out of the computer for mods.  The
last thing I did once the GS came out of storage was to replace the
stock 8K cache and v1.5 ROM in the TWGS with the 32K cache upgrade
board and v1.8 ROM from ///SHH Systeme, before I had the system
assembled.  That last jarring on the CPU socket may have unseated an
already-stressed solder joint.

I'll check into this and let you know what I find out.  Thanks for the
brilliant idea!
