Well, most of the time, anyway.  8-)

(I was once forced to hot-plug a Disk ][ to avoid expensive data loss. 
That time, I got lucky.)

I've never blown a daisy-chain controller, but I've...well, I didn't watch
it happen, but I saw that it happened and hot-plugging was indicted as the
cause.  At the time we were all rather accustomed to hot-plugging 5.25
drives.  The 3.5 drives changed all that.

(I was the computer equipment crew for an ad-hoc school at the time.  Had
to be the summer of 1987 or 1988.)
