The first rule of maintenance is: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
;-)

Seriously, if the grease is still grease and is not too dirty,
leave it alone. There are lots of bad things that can happen
in the process of cleaning and re-greasing a disk drive, and
it isn't worth it for one that's working.

Now that you know how to take it apart, you know that you
can work on it if and when it needs it. ;-)

(BTW, Tony Diaz has an article on cleaning and relubricating
an 800K drive on his website.)

Hi. I just read that article maybe 2 minutes ago. :-) That's funny.
I am not wanting to disassemble it that far. I was just wanting to
hit the parts that can be seen by taking the case apart. I have two new
1.44MB internal mechanisms on the way, so I am going to be pulling the
800K mechanisms out to save in case I ever need them for some of my
other 800K drives. I have a 3.5 (1.44MB) card, so I am converting 800K
drives to 1.44MB drives. I thought before I put them in a zip-loc bag,
I would re-grease the easy-to-get-to parts.

Thank you,
