Re: Trouble Viewing GIFs on //e

<< You may also want to verify that they are actualy .gif files...
sometimes jpegs will get renamed as giffs (and vice versa) without
actually being converted. They'll still render in your browser, so you
probably wouldn't notice until you got to ][GIF >>

That was at least part of the problem. They've now been identified as
neither GIFS or JPEGS, but some other odd format, labeled as gifs.

<< I've also done some fiddling with ][GIF and had no problems with the
newer standard (gif89a), so I'm sure that's not the issue, unless maybe
they're layered (animated) giffs. >>

Actually, animated GIFs seem okay with ][GIF. I successfully ran one with
about a dozen screen refreshes on the //e. It was slow, even with an 8X
accelerator, but it worked!

<< One of the cool things about ][GIF is that you can save .gif to HGR
which means you can use images created in PhotoShop etc to make hires
screens for your Apple II programs (just make sure your original has the
right pixel dimensions - works best with b/w images). >>

Sounds like this might be a way to transfer those odd formats to actual GIFS. I
have Adobe PhotoDeluxe--can it do the same? I'm building up a library of
images for both my Tutor-Tech stacks to import from, and for the AppleWorks'
AfterWork screen saver.
